CEO update: February 2026

2026 is up and running or perhaps sprinting along is more like it.

Thriving Kids

We have been focused on unpacking the Thriving Kids reports with members, to hear their views on what we know so far. We are thinking deeply about the what the pathways for families will be and how they will navigate this change. We know as a sector it will be critical that we understand these pathways to support families in their choice making.

Another key focus for us is always looking to how these changes align with best practice approaches. I continue to represent our sector, asking questions and seeking clarification on what the service delivery model will be.

We know there is still much more detail needed and we will continue to seek answers to members questions and share as we learn more.

Submissions on behalf of our sector

We have three new submissions out responding to consultations from the NDIS.

The first on the Annual NDIS Pricing Review, the second to the Victorian state budget 2026-27, and the third on Art and Music therapy.

Huge thanks to members who have shared their insights and experiences that have shaped these submissions.

What is of significance is the emerging issues that members are sharing under the current NDIS pricing.

ECIA VIC/TAS are fully focused on supporting the delivery of quality services to children and families. We know quality leads to life-long positive outcomes and this must be a priority for the NDIS.

Looking ahead

We will be joining our friends at Playgroup Victoria for their annual conference, as well as getting out on the road to meet with members and hear more about how they are navigating the reforms in ECI, ECEC and NDIS all at once.

We are adding new training and workshops to our event list gradually, so please keep checking in to see the new things we have on offer.

Welcome

Welcome to all our new members who have joined recently. We are keen to work closely with you and support you to share your experiences as we navigate the many reforms that are happening now.

Thanks to all came along to our members pop-up on Thriving Kids; what we know now and what we want clarification on. It was such a rich conversation and we will take all your questions further in our advocacy work.

As always, please reach out to us if there are any issues you would like to raise.

– Sally Moore, CEO ECIA VIC/TAS
