ECIS REFORM
The Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (DEECD) has commenced a project to develop options for reform
of early childhood intervention services (ECIS) in Victoria (download
this Fact Sheet for further details).
ECIA-VC has been contracted by DEECD to provide professional advice to DEECD about the project and the views of the sector.
Following is an update regarding the ECIS reform, including details of the regional forums scheduled for December 2010.
Update – November 2010
The ECIS Reform Project has several components; Stage 1 was completed with a KPMG report released in 2009 which is available
at the following link: www.education.vic.gov.au.
ECIS Reform Stage 2 started with a Literature Review (yet to be released) and Service Mapping which is currently underway.
The next part of Stage 2 is consultations conducted by Allen’s Consulting which are due to be held in December.
The Reform project report is due to be completed by the end of April 2011.
ECIA Regional Forums
To enable ECIA-VC to communicate and consult with the sector, ECIA recently conducted a series of half-day forums which
aimed to help the ECIS sector reflect on the evidence about what makes ECI effective. A copy of the powerpoint presentation
from the forum and the “Literature Review Key Messages” handout can downloaded here. Thank you to everyone who participated
in these forums and provided feedback and input to assist ECIA with its representation regarding the ECIS Reform Stage 2
project. If you were unable to attend a forum, or have other advice you would like to provide to the Allen Consulting Group
regarding the ECIS Reform Stage 2 Project, you can comment on line at the following on-line forum:
